Map work

This afternoon we've worked with Year 2 on our map skills; we identified familiar landmarks, compared a map with an aerial picture and found a larger scale section of the map using roads and buildings on our own smaller maps.

Great team work!!

Orienteering in the Wilderness

We finally got to use our map reading skills in the Wilderness for orienteering on Friday! We had a lot of fun even though it was very muddy!

What was Abbotsham like 100 years ago?

This afternoon we have done some collaborative work with Year 2, we used photos of Abbotsham from 100 years ago and recent photos to compare and investigate any changes. We found that lots has changed, some buildings have gone, some have been replaced, the roads have changed width, and the oak tree was replaced. We looked at physical and human features.

We loved working with Year 2 and hope to do more over the next three weeks while we find out about Abbotsham in the early 1900s.

St John's ambulance- The Big First Aid Lesson 2017

This afternoon we have learned all about first aid and how to keep your friends and family safe during bonfire night.

We learned what to do about burns, how to do abdominal thrusts and what to do if an ambulance needs to be called.

This morning we have done orienteering for the first time and we loved it!! We worked in pairs using our map skills to find individual letters to make words.

Mrs Harding saw amazing reciprocity and resourcefulness at work as well as lots of risk taking.

We can't wait for next weeks lesson!
